Crime Reference Number
A Crime Reference Number is issued if a crime has taken place or if a member of the public believes a crime has taken place. The prefix of the CRN will indicate whereabouts the crime took place and the date. The information will be logged on the computer and could be made available to other divisions or police forces in the course of further enquiries.
